CVE-2018-7740

The goal of this project was to work on completing one of my many life goals. In the infosec community, a CVE is a testimat to how much knowlegde you have gained and is a measurable impact you have hade to society. They are highly coveted and considered golden trophies. In March 2018, I was lucky enough to get not only one but two within a week.

I setup the kernel fuzzer written by people at Google named syzkaller and eventually ran into a kernel crash that was highly reproducable and highly destructive.

I learned how kernels work as well as how modern exploitation teachniques are researched and developed.
